Course contents :  
German course for beginners.
During this course a handbook based on a communicative approach will be used. Grammatical structures will be introduced progressively. By the end of the course, students should be able to use the vocabulary of the handbook, as well as the vocabulary seen in class. They should also be able to use basic grammatical structures efficiently. Exercises focus on pronunciation, the acquisition of vocabulary and basic grammatical structures. Course of CERL level A1/A2
Learning outcomes of the course :  
- All four language skills (reading, listening, writing and speaking) are developed.
- Acquisition of general vocabulary
- Acquisition of basic grammatical structures through grammar drills and other exercises.

2 hours per week (Q2)
Recommended or required readings :  
- Documents (texts and audio files) and exercises taken out of handbooks using a communicative approach (level A1/A2) - "Grammaire pour débutants", F. Carl.
- Historically oriented texts/articles (references will be given throughout the year)
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Written and oral exam (in June and August). - Written exam (listening & reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and written expression): 20 marks
- Oral exam: 10 marks
