Course contents :
|
| The course is divided into four sections. The first one aims to familiarize the students with the main databases on Greek and Latin literature. This learning will be accompanied by reflections on the specificities of ancient texts databases, especially related to fonts, rankings and sorting, lemmatizing and tagging methods, documentary and statistical tools supplied with these bases.
The second one provides an introduction to the methods of textual data analysis applied to ancient languages. By making use of the statistical tools introduced in the first part of the course, we will offer various examples of research, particularly in the areas of lexicon, morphology, syntax and stylistics.
The third section presents a brief inventory of the main documentary, encyclopaedic and bibliographical instruments available on internet
The fourth section aims to familiarize students with some websites and tutorials dedicated to students from the secondary school. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, students will be able to use, critically, the main resources available for the study of ancient languages and literature. He will master the tools and statistics used for the study of classical texts. |

| Knowledge of Greek and Latin gained from the the second bacchelor Degree, Ancient Languages and Literatures, Classics. |
