The presentation of the key concepts of the main theories is illustrated by articles from historians who use these concepts in their research. As an extension of the first part, the question of categories and scales of analysis in social history will be addressed, from the approach to social classes studied in a regional framework to the different forms of event history analysis, from national comparatism to trans-national approaches. In the third part of the course, (groups of) students will be asked to present research results on a special topic to be defined. In 2014-2015, students will investigate on trade-union training.
