Course contents :  
This course aims to develop the four linguistic skills, namely :
  • oral expression
  • written expression
  • listening comprehension
  • reading comprehension
Learning outcomes of the course :  
  • To be able to reproduce an orally coherent and syntactically correct text.
  • To be able to produce a grammatically correct narrative text.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
  • Active and direct, requiring constant participation from students, training in comprehension (reading, listening) and expression (written and oral)
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
This course takes place for three hours per week and attendance is compulsory.
Recommended or required readings :  
The syllabus will be handed out by the course leader.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
20%: continuous assessment, including a non-exempting examination in January
80%: evaluation in June through oral and written examination
  • 40%: Oral examination about the content of given texts and about the content of the course.
  • 40%: written examination including drafting a coherent, structured and correct text, reading and listening comprehension.
