Course contents :  
The course focuses on the arts of all the agricultural and metalworking cultures around the world. In particular, modalities of appearance of the human figure are studied and with it the notion of divinity and religion.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The different modes of plastic expression will be examined, from ceramics to metallurgy, and the impact of these different materials will be considered from both plastic and aesthetic viewpoints. The agency of iconic components can be decoded and come from story structures to symbolic value, linked to situations where these arts were expressed.

Duration and period: 30 hours, 2nd term.

Classroom and schedule: Auditorium A4/S100 (building A4), Monday, 4-6 pm.

Reference book : M. Otte, Arts protohistoriques. L'aurore des dieux, Bruxelles : De Boeck, 2007.
A bibliography of the major reference works is distributed at the beginning of the year.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Oral examination. Exam session in June.
