Master in Geological and Mining Engineering, research focus, 1st year3
Master in Geological and Mining Engineering, specialized approach, 1st year3
Lecturer :  Olivier Bolle
Language(s) of instruction :
French language
Organisation and examination :
Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Course contents :
Study of brittle deformation: joints, tension gashes and faults. Study of ductile deformation: cleavage and lineation, boudinage, shear zones, folds (geometric analysis, folding process, secondary structures in folds).
Learning outcomes of the course :
Recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures, from the scale of the thin section to the regional scale (map).
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
Prerequisite: course of General Geology. There is no recommended optional programme component.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
Theoretical lectures, using a Power Point presentation. Practical works of two types: (1) exercises and (2) recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures based on different materials (samples, photographs, maps).
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
Face-to-face.
