| Duration : | 15h Th, 15h Pr, 2d FW |
| Number of credits : |
| Lecturer : | Olivier Bolle |
Language(s) of instruction :
| French language |
Organisation and examination :
| Teaching in the first semester, review in January |
Course contents :
| Study of brittle deformation: joints, tension gashes and faults. Study of ductile deformation: cleavage and lineation, boudinage, shear zones, folds (geometric analysis, folding process, secondary structures in folds). |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| Recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures, from the scale of the thin section to the regional scale (map). |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| Prerequisite: course of General Geology. There is no recommended optional programme component. |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| Theoretical lectures, using a Power Point presentation. Practical works of two types: (1) exercises and (2) recognition and interpretation of tectonic structures based on different materials (samples, photographs, maps). |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| Face-to-face. |
