Course contents :  
After a short introduction to the main research methods in human geography (Observation, secondary data analysis, survey, experimentation, action research) the course is focused on surveys and interviews techniques (including. focus group), fieldwork protocols and analysis of data (content analysis and statistical analysis)
Experimenting a survey allows students to face the choices and problems of surveys.

Learning outcomes of the course :  
The objective of the course is to prepare the students to achieve survey, interviews and fieldwork in the field of economic and social geography.
The training confronts the students with the different stages of a survey. Students will use the more common tools used in research in human geography.

Statistics, Demography, Spatial analysis, Cartography, Data base, Cultural geography

The course takes place during six weeks (including a Saturday) in November and December.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
- Contribution to the Collective Survey (20%) - Personal analyse of the survey, report (30%) - Oral exam (50%)
