Course contents :  
The course is structured in three parts. The first part is related to the main concepts of economic and social geography, so as to identify the originality of both, its approaches and main issues. The second part is related to the study of agriculture. This analysis is related to the spatial distribution of the production, but also with market mechanisms as well as with environmental issues. The third part introduces the theme of spatial planning.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The course aims at giving future geographers the key concepts and approaches of social and economic geography.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
The course requires what can be expected from a student graduated from the secondary school that has chosen a university education. An open attitude towards social and economic problems is also expected.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Four sessions (3 hours) of workshops will allow to experience the approaches exposed in the context of the theoretical courses. Two sessions will be realized on the field and two sessions are reserved to basic learning processes (analysis of historical maps and designing diagrams)
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Five sessions of theoretical lectures (3h) and four sessions of workshops (3h).

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Practical exercice on the field = 15%
Exams = 85% (42,5% written exam and 42,5% oral exam; no oral exam asked if the result is higher or equal to 12/20 in the written exam).
