Loads and combinations ° Philosophy of semi probabilistic approach (ULS-SLS) ° Actions (permanent loads, imposed loads, accidental loads, thermal expansion...) ° Load combinations Functional requirements ° Acoustics ° Fire safety Basic structural elements in buildings ° Roofs ° Floors ° Raft foundations ° Walls ° Columns ° Braces ° Façades ° Fondations ° Coupling beams ° Expansion joints Typology of buildings ° Single-storey buildings (industrial, commercial...) ° Multi-storey buildings (offices, appartments...) ° Building towers Principles for technical drawings and building plans Working with a drawing software (Draftsight) Working with a software for structural analysis (Diamonds)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of this course, the students will be able to:


  • Conceive the structural scheme of a building construction;
  • Select the most appropriate building elements;
  • Establish the plans, including sections and details;
  • Utilize a structural analysis software
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Good knowledge in mechanics of structures and in building techniques (steel, wood, concrete or composite structural elements)

Frontal lectures in strong relation with the course PRCO0001-1 "Projet de construction"
