Course contents :  
This course is a first introduction to genetic epidemiology. In order to illustrate the different facets of genetic epidemiology, the course will include material on : 1. software in the context of genetic epidemiology 2. quality control of data 3. family designs and analysis of such studies 4. the role of the environment
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To familiarise students with the different facets of genetic epidemiology, with an emphasis on statistical genetics.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Basic knowledge of statistical concepts. Genetic terms will be re-introduced.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Personal work through tasks set during lectures, homework and larger projects, with the help primarily of Bioconductor tools using the 'R' open source software. Further information is available at the course website via www.montefiore.ulg.ac.be/~kvansteen/
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
2nd semester.
The course will be interactive in English/French. All course notes are in English. Homeworks can be handed in in French. Examination will be in French.
