Course contents :

| Presentation of main forest harvesting systems used throughout the world. Attention is paid to
- interaction between environment constraints and equipments;
- improvement of wood supply chain (new technologies);
- safety measures in forest harvesting.

Learning outcomes of the course :

| After completing the course the student is expected to :
- understand the concepts harvesting methods and harvesting systems;
- be able to identify the factors affecting the selection of a harvesting system;
- be able to recognize the most common equipments used in mechanized forest harvesting and to know their main functionalities;
- be able to estimate the productivity and calculate the profitability of a forest harvesting system;
- be able to set up safety concepts in forest harvesting operations (safety equipment, risk factors, ..). |
