Course contents :
|
| This course (6 lessons of 4 hours) will provide a specific lighting on the current debates on international cooperation by focusing on actors, in particular the new local operators of development cooperation ("civil society organizations"). One will seek to replace the acuity of the environmental stakes on the cooperation's diary, dominated by the new paradigm of poverty reduction strategies. One will also tackle the question of sustainable development from concrete case studies, particularly related to projects in the fields of fair trade and rural development. |

Learning outcomes of the course :
|
| 1. To familiarize students with the actors and topics of development cooperation. Considering the actors, we will particularly focus on civil society organizations. Concerning the topics, the environmental questions will be positioned within the new paradigm of poverty reduction strategies.
2. To provide to students basic socio-anthropological tools analysis through case studies (emergence of local NGOs, fair trade projects) allowing to approach the contemporary cultural dimensions of cooperation activities.
3. To introduce the agricultural dimension into the development area, mainly in regard to its economic aspects. |
