Number of credits :
Master in Biology of organism and ecology, in-depth approach, 2nd year3
Lecturer :  Célia Joaquim-Justo, Jean-Pierre Thomé
Coordinator :  Célia Joaquim-Justo
Language(s) of instruction :
French language

This course consists in the development of case studies relevant to pollution problems and management in aquatic ecosystems exposed to micropolutants. The case studies seen are chosen considering the students' particular interests when they wish to.
Learning outcomes of the course :
The objective of the course is to develop the students' abilities to analyse and present envionmental problems related to the pollution by toxic chemicals of aquatic ecosystems.
The integration of the case studies discussed in the management procedures in the EU and the formulation of management solutions are also developped in the course.

Students will report regularly to the teachers the progress of their work and will have opportunities to discuss their subject and how to present it.
Recommended or required readings :
The notes are constituted by the report prepared by the students.
Recommanded readings are suggested to the students in order to prepare the presentation of the subject of their conference.
Assessment methods and criteria :
Students will prepare a dossier concerning a case study relevant to the pollution of aquatic ecosystems by toxic pollutants and in relation to either their master thesis or any other topic they have a personal interest in. They will present the case study they have chosen (15 minutes of presentation) and will answer their colleagues questions. The assessment of the presentation and answers provided to the questions is the final evaluation of the course.
