Course contents :  
This course comprises exclusively a theoretical part. It proposes the bases of sport management and allows students to acquire the notions which will be useful at the time of the following year and the practical activities. It meets the following topics:
- Recall of notions relative to sport' s development and structure.
- Analysis of the components of an effective management.
- Presentation of the three main categrories of sport organization (sport events, facilities, associations).
Learning outcomes of the course :  
- To allow students to clearly identify the sport structure.
- To present the principles of the sport management. - To show the students all the aspects of an effective management. - To provide basic principles of management for sports' organizations.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
- Upstream: Sport and society (BSM 1), concepts approached at the time of the practical courses of physical education.
- Downstream: Partims II and III of the same course (MSM 1) and master thesis in the field of sport management.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Ex-cathedra teaching and exercises.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
The teaching sessions are planned during the first semester. Information is provided during the first lecture.
Recommended or required readings :  
A pdf version of the slides and documents proposed during the theoretical lessons is posted on the Website myULg. In addition, the students will have to seek other information, according to recommendations' of the course's holder.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Written examen with open ended questions.
