| This lesson focuses on the practice of athletic training of students (sports classes). It runs over two terms at a rate of 7h30/week. Practical courses aimed at the initiation of large families of different sports disciplines (water activities, collective activities, gymnastic, athletic, expression) and the development of pedagogical skills in the sport context. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| At the end of the first year of Bachelor of Motor Sciences, regarding the practical side, students should be able to: (1) to demonstrate a sufficient fundamental motor skills for different families of sporting activities (ie running, jumping, climbing, balancing, catching, swimming, ...) or even a mastery of technical aspects for some disciplines, (2) to lead and manage a group of people to provide education (ie s express, propose a coherent content, lead a group, ...), (3) to demonstrate a sports ethics education copy (fair play, respect for others, ...), (4) to demonstrate ethical appropriate professional (correction, punctuality, effort ...). |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| Practical courses require that the students must be suitable for intense sports (fitness certificate made by a laboratory specialized in exercise), have an excellent physical condition and the largest motor skill experience. |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| Practical classes are organized into families of activities proposed for a 1:15 period per week throughout the year. Units for first bachelor students relate to athletics, gymnastics, water, collective activities, expression. A cycle is also devoted to the acquisition of basic pedagogy(teacher training). The schedule is communicated to students by posting (valves of ISEPK) from the academic year. Throughout the practice sessions, assistants and instructors ensure varied teaching methods to give students a more diverse experience.
Attendance is compulsory. The assistants are checking if each student is active during each session. |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| The general schedule of events is communicated through the handbook, display and myULg valves. Any changes shall be communicated to delegates (e-mail, telephone contact), and by posting a message left on myULg. Students are therefore advised to read the notice to the valves ISEPK (Building B21) for each day during practice. It is also strongly recommended them to consult their ULg-mail regularly (if they use a different email address, it would be appropriate that they provide an automatic relay for academics messages to this address). |
Recommended or required readings :
| They are few written material. When it is the case, a copy is posted on myULg. |
Assessment methods and criteria :
| The score for this course covers all practical activities planned during the two semesters. It is the result of a calculation based on the scores obtained in the different families of activities. The arithmetic mean is modulated according to the potential weaknesses or a possible bonus linked to the practice of high level sport and taking into account the rate of active attendance.
In every family activity, the assessment is based on the quality of services provided throughout the year on the involvement of the student as well as the results achieved during the evaluation sessions scheduled according to a schedule contained in the courses. The specific evaluation criteria for each category of activity are provided orally by the assistants. Students may request additional information at any time. Similarly, managers can organize practical courses of oral or written questions, unscheduled, and on the content taught in previous sessions. The results of these evaluations may be included in the assessment of a sports activity.
A student who has not met in the minimal results in a family of activities on the first semester can represent the evaluations organized at the end of the second semester. The details are explained to the students during the orientation session and may subsequently be obtained from the course holder, assistants and/or external monitors.
Even supported by a medical certificate, a "non-participation" in the assessment tests entail an extension of these to the next session. In exceptional circumstances, an alternative test can be arranged. |
