  • Concepts and basic principles of economic analysis
  • Microeconomics

  • Macroeconomics and economic policy
  • Inflation and unemployment

Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- Define with appropriate terms the main economic concepts;
- Understand and explain behaviors and fundamental mechanisms on the level of both individual agents (firms, consumers) and national and international economy;
- Represent graphically the relations between economic variables on the level of both micro- and macroeconomic analysis;
- Explain with a graph the impact of the variation of an economic variable on another (comparative statics);
- Synthesize various texts (articles from economic journals or press) in order to complete the oral class;
- Interpret current statistics on aggregates and macroeconomic variables (GDP, public expenditures and taxes, unemployment, inflation, ...);
- Calculate, through simple numerical exercises, economic variables using theoretical models and formulas studied in the class.
