Course contents :  
· General overview of a production · Mass and energetic balance of a culture of microorganisms. · Microbial growth and types of culture · Chemical engineering applied to the production of microorganisms · Description of fermentors and accessories . Optimization of the biomass growth and of the metabolites production
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Allow the student to understand the growth curves of microorganisms and metabolite production at industrial level and from an economical perspective

The lectures are developped during 13 sessions and follow the general overview. They include a visit of the CWBI pilot plant (fermentors and downstream).
