Teaching in the first semester, review in January
Course contents :
The course includes lectures describing the main molecular biology techniques that will be performed during practicals. - Extraction and analysis of nucleic acids- real time PCR - DNA cloning - Cell transfection - Reporter assays - Western blot - Confocal microscopy - Flow cytometry Another part of the course presents advanced techiques of molecular biology (e.g. microarrays, high throughput sequencing, transgenesis, interactomics). The last part of the course includes workshops aiming at preparing an oral presentation in English of a research article and a project using different molecular biology techniques.
Learning outcomes of the course :
At the end of the course, the student should master the theoretical bases of the major molecular biology techniques. He should also be able to understand and perform a series of techniques in laboratory settings. He should also adequately interpret experimental results obtained during the practicals. Finally, he will be able to present a research paper in English and propose a project using molecular biology techniques.
