Course contents :  
This lecture part is dedicated to protein biochemistry. The chapters are :
1. Chemistry basis
2. Amino acids
3. Biosynthesis and structure of the proteins
4. Post-translational modifications
5. Structural characteristics 6. Enzymes 7. Protein functions 8. Purification and analyses 9. From protein to pathology 10. From protein to drugs
Learning outcomes of the course :  
1. To be able to explain in details the structure of a protein the energetic and steric constraints that the protein faces when it folds to its native structure. 2. Being able to calculate various parameters of enzymatic reactions in Michaelis-Menten and non Michaelis-Menten reactions. 3. To known and being able to explain the various post-translational modifications undergone by proteins and the functional consequences of these changes. 4. To known and being able to explain the principles of the various methods of protein analysis.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
General Biology, general cytology, general Biochemistry (partim I) and general physiology.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
The theoretical lectures will be "ex-cathedra".

Students will have access to the pdf version of the syllabus, as well as, the reference text book.

Written examination on lectures and concepts developed during practical course will be organized according to the general program of the course.
