Course contents :  
Modern Belgian architecture has provided a remarkable number of creators and creations of immense quality. The modern and recent history of towns and territory makes it possible to ask in-depth questions about the development an industrialized Western country as a paradigm for understanding the 20th century.
The different post-war currents will be dealt with while looking closely at: reconstruction,
the era of the Brussels 58 Exhibition and urban transformations, (Liege, Brussels, Antwerp, etc.
Dupuis, Bastin, Vandenhove, EGAU, Greisch, Van der Meeren, Kroll, Braem, etc.
The brutalist, organic, post-modern and neo-modern tendencies etc. (70s and 90s).
The last generations: the Flemish architects, minimalism, contemporary and heritage architecture, the Walloon renewal, Brussels European capital, etc.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
With this course, the students have to acquire the knowledge of the period concerned in terms of the history of architecture in Belgium and be capable of creating links with the overall history of architecture, and have a knowledge of the topics and questions that animated the last century, in particular all those that concern the evolution of architectural practice and the transformations of territory and the urban landscape.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
The student will be required to have knowledge of the general course of the history of architecture, the theory of architecture urbanism and art.
