Course contents :  
From the Paleolithic to contemporary interventions, this class studies the history of architectural forms, with a special focus on their archetypal, morphological and structural evolutions.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Development of case-based studies and analyses, in order to extract from immediate or past history information necessary to ease the understanding of conceptualization and design mechanisms in architecture. Development of a critical and reflexive approach of architecture, studied inside its historical and socio-economic contexts, in regard to the human kind, the time being, the dwelling type and the human needs.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
The class is ex-cathedra, illustrated by numerous examples. Participation is expected from each student, for instance through short and punctual presentations in front of the class.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face.
Recommended or required readings :  
A reading list will be suggested at the beginning of the year. Illustrations and lecture notes will be provided numerically to the students.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Each student presents one short research work in front of the class. The grade obtained for this presentation concurs to the year-average grade.
Oral exam preceded by written preparation, organized similarly for the 1st and 2nd session.
The grade obtained for the 2nd session oral exam replaces the grade obtained for the 1st session oral exam in the year-average grade.
