Course contents :  
This course will first come back on the issue of economic rationality, which is at the heart of debates between economics and anthropology. Secondly, we will deal with classic themes in economic anthropology: the gift, the market, consumption, and so on. In the second part of the course,we will analyse more topical issues such as access to natural resources, neoliberalism, or social protection.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
To introduce students to theories and methods in economic anthropology. At the end of the course students will be able to analyze from an original and critical point economic processes going on in our increasingly globalized world.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
To have an interest in rethinking economic analysis, and accordingly, in reflecting with new conceptual tools upon the economic and social changes of our time.

Recommended or required readings :  
Students must read one of the two books mentionned at the beginning of the course. They will also receive complementary readings at each lesson. These readings will be made available in paper form or sent in PDF form via MyULg.
