Course contents :  
. Overview of the immune system: historical perspective, innate immunity, acquired immunity . Cells and organs of the immune system: hematopoiesis, CD antigens, cells and organs, antigen-presenting cells, dendritic cells, leucocytes migration and homing; . Generation of B-cell and T-cell responses:   antigens;   immunoglobulins: structure and function;   antigen-antibody interactions; principles and applications; organization and expression of immunoglobulin genes; antibody engeneering;   B-cell maturation activation and differentiation;   major histocompatibility complexes;   antigen processing and presentation;   T-cell receptor, T-cell maturation, activation and differentiation;   Immune effector mechanisms:   cytokines; . cell-mediated and humoral effector responses; regulation of the immune effector response . Other aspects of immunity (overview): immunodeficiency, tolerance, autoimmunity, hypersensitive reactions, inflammations, external factors, vaccinology (for more details, see ANIM0009-A-Immunobiology) . Practical works: productions of antibodies, precipitation reactions, agglutination reactions, the complement system and its applications, radioimmunoassay, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, overview of other modern techniques.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Acquisition of the molecular and cellular bases of immunology.
Supply of requisite informations on mechanisms and main current and prospective applications.
After completing the course the student is expected to
- understand the mechanism of the immune system of the being alive
- integrate the immunochemical approach in detection systems of molecules of some importance
