The theoretical and practical concerning animal production are organized in a double context and individual herd. This course complements the course of Internal Medicine, Surgery and Theriogenology animal production courses that are specifically targeted to the individual. This course focuses on strategies for collecting and analyzing clinical data, livestock, therapeutic, laboratory in order to increase farm profitability while incorporating the concepts of animal welfare, biosecurity, quality of animal products.
Learning outcomes of the course :
In the field of animal production, productivity is often considered as an alternative measure of health status. Also the fact that the disease is present or not is usually less important than the frequency with which it appears and its impact on the productivity of herds in medicine, the clinician observes individuals but bases its conclusions on observations made on all of the population. During the general objective to educate yourself (1) strategies for collecting individual information or breeding, (2) their analysis for power (3) quantify the magnitude of the problem, (4) identify origin and (5) the relationship between the various factors responsible and doing (6) practical recommendations to improve the profitability of the production unit. Like other courses or clinical training, this course will give you the opportunity to increase your disciplinary skills (essential to mobilize as authentic as possible situations knowledge), organizational (how to manage your time, set communicative relationship a report operating items) (in the context of relations with the breeder or other colleagues), (that is to say the control of oral or written), reflexive (as part of the analysis and interpretation of information) or personal. The specific objectives of this course are presented in the notes.

The responsible course reserve the right to propose an oral examination in the second session so if the number of students was significantly decreased. The success of the course depends not only on the written test (knowledge test) but is also dependent on the completion of two weeks of clinical (VETE0445-1: Bovine Outpatient Clinic and Clinical Medicine Herds 2GMV). Theriogenology part of medical courses herds will be formative assessment through Exams platform. The terms of these formative tests are specified in a separate document available on the eCampus platform.
