| The course is an introduction to the key concepts in the sociology of immigration and integration (integration, culture, ethnicity, interculturalism, racism, transnationalism, asylum, migration, postcolonialism) |

| MODE OF DELIVERY: FACE-TO-FACE.The course consists in about 10 sessions (2 hours each) plus the complusory participation in a few lectures organized by CEDEM. The presence in class is highly recommended.
Powerpoint supports will be distributed at the end of the semester.
Furthermore, the students are required to take part in a few gust lectures in the framework of the "rencontres du CEDEM" between October 2013 and May 2014.

Assessment methods and criteria :

| First Session: In the written evaluation, particular attention will be given to the ability of the student to practice the epistemological break and get out of pre-concepts and common sense. During the written exam, the student will problematize the sociological issues at the center of the course through the analysis of a situation identified in the recent events related to migration, citizenship and intercultural relations.
