Course contents :  
Pathology of cardiovascular system

The course on arterial hypertension includes a description of its epidemiology, patholophysiology, diagnosis, complications and treatment.
The student must be used to the regulation of blood pressure and the mecanisms physiologically influencing its level (seen during the 3rd year of the medical formation).

Oncology

The courses aim at introducing students to various clinical aspects of oncology in adults and children: surgery, anatomo-pathology, radiology, pharmacology, and radiotherapy.

Learning outcomes of the course :

To be able to diagnose and manage arterial hypertension.

Oncology

The main objective is to provide students with the necessary pathological knowledge and techniques so that they can best act when confronted with oncological problems.

Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :

The best learning of the different diseases teached during this 8th semester needs to perfectly know the normal human condition about all the systems concerned.

Oncology

Basic knowledge of the following fields is indispensable: embryology, anatomy, physiology, physiopathology, nephrology, and bacteriology. Advanced knowledge of semiology and propedeutics are essential in order to approach this subject.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Pathology of cardiovascular system

Presence at the clinical demonstrations. One workshop will be organized especially for the blood pressure measurement technic.

Oncology

The practical work carried out in Anatomical Pathology and Radiology.

The course runs during the first semester and takes place in the CHU lecture halls.

Each teacher has his personal technic for giving their courses, helpted by a personal written or a reference book, a CD Rom and/or a web site, well known by the students' association.

Multidisciplinary oral and written examens will be hold in June.

Oncology

Written exam (Multiple Choice Questions) and an oral exam in the framework of a multi-disciplinary exam. Obligatory presence in stages, practical courses and ARC.
