Course contents :  
The course systematically presents traditional concepts of grammatical analysis and apply them to the French language.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of the course, students will have the following abilities:
  • ability to analyse any French sentence using traditional grammatical analysis;
  • knowledge and mastery of the main grammar books describing French;
  • mastery of the grammatical spelling rules of French;
  • knowledge of the main oddities and exceptions in French.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Exercises (Q2) will be combined with theoretical lessons (Q1).
Analysed texts are the same as the ones at study in the course LROM0063-1 Initiation à l'analyse textuelle (domaine français) (http://progcours.ulg.ac.be/cocoon/cours/LROM0063-1.html). If possible, one session will involve the assistant of this course.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
The course is delivered throughout the academic year at the rate of one period a week.
