Course contents :

| Level 2 is an introduction to specialty English. We will use semi-authentic or simplified authentic source documents.
The studied topics are linked to the students' field of study. Here are some examples:
1/ Global Warming
2/ Permaculture
3/ Forestry & Soils
4/ Food issues
5/ Etc. |

Learning outcomes of the course :
|
| At the end of the course, the student will reach the Level B2 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages as far as listening, reading and summary writing skills are concerned. |
|
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
|
| The student has to have a B1+ level (cf. CEFR) before starting the course. |
|
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
|
| Each of the 3 topics includes many different activities such as:
a. reading and listening comprehension
b. summary of scientific articles
c. grammar and specialty vocabulary exercises.
The student has to make an oral presentation about a study-related topic. |

| The course will include face-to-face teaching as well as self-learning activities (e-campus). |

| The final Level 2 grade will be calculated as follows:
Reading (20%)
Listening (20%)
Writing a summary (30%)
Vocabulary & Grammar (15%)
Group presentation (10%)
Personal work (5%) |
