Course contents :  
Enhancement of speaking skills in the foreign language (Spanish). Enhancement of simultaneous interpreting skills. Acquisition of vocabulary and terminology on a specialized subject (French-Spanish). Identifying and implementing strategies for simultaneous interpreting (French-Spanish). Preparation from A to Z of an interpreting assignment (mock conference)
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of this course, students will be able to prepare and carry out an interpreting assignment (French-Spanish) on a specialized subject determined by the trainer (mock conference).
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Excellent listening comprehension of the source language (French). Very good spoken command of the target language (Spanish). Advance simultaneous interpreting technique.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Students are required to study the vocabulary and terminology of the chosen field. Classes will be mainly devoted to practical exercises (shadowing, clozing and simultaneous interpreting), followed by comments on the individual performance of the students.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face and distance. 3 hours per week. 2nd term. Compulsory course given in the interpreting room at Rue de Pitteurs 20. Face-to-face sessions will take place Wednesdays 9am-12am (April-May).
Recommended or required readings :  
Texts and notes will be provided throughout the course.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
40% of the grade : portfolio with the preparation of the mock conference
60% of the grade : performance as speaker and as interpreter during the mock conference.

Organizational remarks :  
No class in February and March (internship). Final mock conference could take place on a Saturday.
