Course contents :  
1) Crops water needs Evaporation and evapotranspiration Crops uptake and humidity profile in soils Calculation of water need (quantity and periodicity)
2) Soil salinity origins and consequences Technics against salinity
3)Introduction to the different irrigation techniques water distribution and impacts on soil water profile
4) Surface irrigation Surface irrigation systems Theory of surface irrigation fields leveling
5) Sprinkler irrigation Key equipment Network description Rain distribution, sprinkler spacing, uniformity Basic principle for the disign of a sprinkler irrigation system
6) Drip irrigation Drip irrigation systems and material disposition Crops water needs for drip irrigation Network design Related equipments Network and irrigated material survey
7) Irrigation system management
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Surface, drip and sprinkling irrigation engeneering formation After completing the course the student is expected to
- Calculate the crop water needs
- Calculate a water distribution system (quantity and periodicity)
- Understand, evaluate and manage a problem of salinity.
- Understand the working process and the design of the different irrigation systems (surface irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation).
- incorporate social and cultural aspects in irrigation management

- HYDR0007 - Fluid mechanics- HYDR0010-1 - Gravitational flow - HYDR0002 - Water flow in soils
