Course contents :  
Translation of specialized texts in political, economical and legal fields. Those texts will deal with different subjects and the translation will be written or on sight. Different translation problems will be studied deeply as well as the translation mechanisms. Reflex for the research helping to translate and for the translation in French itself will be acquired . Development of the writing skills for French language.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of the course, the student will be able to translate political, economical or legal-oriented texts. He will be able to analyse, to relay and rephrase the meaning of the text. He will be able to comment the difficulties he came up with and justify his translation choices. The student will be able as well to translate on sight (without any external help such as web or dictionaries), reproducing the meaning and the nuances and highlighting the logical connections of a text. The student will be able to use efficiently the translation tools such as dictionaries (unilingual and bilingual) and the web.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Excellent understanding of the Spanish language. Excellent knowledge of the French language.

Curiosity for the different subjects studied during the course.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Reading of the text, research and preparation of the translation at home. Group comparison and critical correction of the individual translation. On sight translation exercises, without dictionaries or other tool, highlighting the logical connections and group correction.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
2 hours class by week during the whole year. Require presence at school.
Recommended or required readings :  
Spanish unilingual dictionary Spanish-French bilingual dictionary French unilingual dictionary (Le Petit Robert preferably) Following and reading of current affairs (online newspaper for example)
Assessment methods and criteria :  
20% of the grade: on sight translation, without dictionaries or other tool.
20% of the grade: at home translation with all the available tools (dictionaries and IT tools), with footnotes explaining the translation choices and bibliography 60% of the grade: written exam at the end of the course, using all the available tools.

On sight translation exercises are realized in the classroom without any translation tool.
