| This course concerns the basics of Mineralogy, for students in BAC2 Geology. The main chaptes are:
1. Geometric crystallography.
2. Optical crystallography.
3. Crystal chemistry.
4. Macroscopic identification of minerals. |

| No prerequisite necessary. |

Planned learning activities and teaching methods :

| Numerous hours of practical identification of minerals under the microscope. The macroscopic identification of minerals is not included in the hours mentioned in the programm of this course (personal supplementary training). |

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :

| Face-to-face learning. It is absolutely necessary to attend all practicals. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| Examinations in June. Oral examination for theory. 3 practical examinations for microscopy, macroscopic identifcation, and for crystallography. |
