Course contents :  
This course will tackle some of the fundamentals of transport. The following topics will be covered:
  • Introduction (Motivation why transportation engineering is important, three market model, etc)
  • Decision making
  • Geography/Networks
  • Modelling/forecasting
  • Evaluation (large focus on cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and multiple criteria analysis (MCA))
  • Transit (e.g. network design)
  • Multi-modal transport and networks
  • Adoption of new transport modes
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The student must have an understanding of basic transportation concepts and of how these concepts are relevant for mechanical engineers.
