 | This course introduces to sustaibale development in four stages :
1. Major challenges :
- climate change
- biodoversity
- food
2. the concept of development and the way to sustainable development : conceptual and historical aspects
3. three dilemmas of sustainability :
- prevention / precaution
- non renewable resources : preserve or substitute
- equity and growth
4. Theory and practices of the transition. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

 | Toi understand th concept of sustainability, its ambiguities, its dilemmas and to explore an intervention method towards sustainable development.
Sudent will bne able :
- to sketch the historical stances of the concept
- to define sustainable development regarding to othe theories
- to define the main concepts included in sustainability (precaution, participation, solidarity, and so on)
- to critically examine biodiversity, climate change and food
- to explain theoretically and practically the theory of transition |
