Course contents :  
Catalyst definition, types of heterogeneous catalysts. Physical and chemical steps in heterogeneous catalysis (diffusion, adsorption, reaction, desorption). Conversion ratio, activity, selectivity, turnover number. Comparison between homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. Identification and counting of catalytic sites. Coupling between reaction and diffusion in porous catalysts (mass and heat transfers, efficiency factor, diffusional limitations). Deactivation. Industrial applications.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Notions of applied chemical kinetics and heterogeneous catalysis to calculate heterogeneous catalytic reactors.

Course CHIM0012-3 "Chemical kinetics"    
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Exercises and lab works. A written report for lab works is requested.

Written notes available for the whole course at the first lesson. These notes are accompanied with a booklet of exercises.
