| Teaching in the second semester |
Course contents :
| Technical drawing is not the only technique which is required, but it is a necessity for architects as a means of achieving coherence, thoroughness and, thus, performance.
Correct graphical representation of good construction technology is used in the design and operation of an architectural project. |
Learning outcomes of the course :
| General objective: at the end of the first year of the Baccalaureat, and using standard technical drawing conventions, students will be able to graphically represent the details and connections between different specific constructive systems which are related to projects conducted in the architecture workshop.
Specific objectives: the various pieces of practical work enable students to learn to master the various tools which are available to them: freehand scale drawings, drawing using instruments, etc. Students remain free to explore one or more approaches. |
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :
| There are no prerequisites. However, attendance at the construction and graphic expression classes may be considered as co-requisites. |
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :
| Classes are delivered in the lecture hall; students must each have the basic equipment for quick technical drawing; each session will involve the presentation of a detail of construction which will be explained line by line. At the end of the session, students should have information about the detail covered; at the end of the term, students should have a file which includes all the details covered. |
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :
| In order to get the most out of progressive support over the course of the exercises, regular presence in class is recommended. |
Recommended or required readings :
| |
Assessment methods and criteria :
| Assessment criteria: these are based on the graphic quality of the documents presented (thoroughness, care, precision), added value in terms of respect for drawing conventions, analytical ability which the student has demonstrated to present the evolution of his or her analysis of different technical details extracted from standard documents, and the personalisation of graphic representation, technically adapted to his or her architecture project. |
Work placement(s) :
| |
Organizational remarks :
| Given the teaching methods used, attendance at all classes is strongly recommended. Copying other people's work is easy to identify and will be punished as plagiarism. |
