Course contents :  
From the Greek Antiquity to contemporary interventions, this class studies the history of architectural and urban forms, with a special focus on morphological and structural aspects.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Development of case-based studies and analyses, in order to extract from immediate or past history information necessary to ease the understanding of conceptualization and design mechanisms in architecture. Development of a critical and reflexive approach of architecture, studied inside its historical and socio-economic contexts, in regard to the human kind, the time being, the dwelling type and the human needs.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
The class is ex-cathedra, illustrated by numerous examples. Participation is expected from each student, for instance through short and punctual presentations in front of the class.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Face-to-face.
Recommended or required readings :  
A reading list will be suggested at the beginning of each year. Illustrations and cases used during classes will be provided to students accordingly.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
One short presentation per student. 1st and 2nd sessions exams. Oral exam preceded by written preparation.
