Legal framework

A.M. of 28.01.2009 (MB: 18.02.2009) : Ministerial decree setting out the criteria for authorising nursing practitioners to carry the specific professional qualification of specialist nurse in oncology.

Presentation

This certificate aims to prepare doctors for authorisation as holder of the professional title of specialist nurse in oncology.
The course responds to the requirements set out in the temporary articles in the Ministerial Decree of 28 January 2009 and offers additional training of 150 hours of theory and practice to holders of the degree or the title of graduate nurse or bachelor in nursing care working in an oncology department.

Special conditions of access / students concerned

This course is aimed at nurses with at least one year's experience in an oncology department in Belgium.
Interested individuals should contact the head of the course to discuss their application (for CHU staff members) or with the enrolment department (for outside students).
Deadline for applications: 15 August
Maximum number of participants: 50


Duration of the training

  • 150 hours of classes (10 credits).
  • Start and end dates of courses: Two to three days (7.5 hours per day) of training per month throughout the academic year

Assessment

Successfully passing these examinations (written and oral tests) leads to the certificate being awarded.
  • Oral examination: 60% of the overall grade (nursing sciences module: 20% biomedical sciences module: 20% social and human sciences module: 20%).
  • Written examination: 40% of the overall grade (nursing sciences module: 10% biomedical sciences module: 30%).
