Legal framework

A.M. of 15.04.1997 (MB : 02/07/1997) : Ministerial decree modifying the Ministerial decree of 9 March 1979 setting out the special criteria for approving specialist doctors, internship supervisors and internship departments for specialities in internal medicine, pulmonology, gastro-enterology, cardiology and rheumatology.

Presentation

This certificate aims to prepare doctors for authorisation as holder of the professional title of `competence¿ in endocrinology. The course will enable students to acquire knowledge of the concepts in endocrinology required for clinical practice of endocrinological and metabolic pathologies in adults.

Special conditions of access / students concerned

This training is aimed at specialist doctors or doctors currently specialising in internal medicine and who are qualified to practice in Belgium. Interested individuals are requested to contact the head of the course in order for their application to be considered (selection competition). Applicants holding a degree from outside the European Union should contact the Admissions Department (Partial specialisation training certificate).

Duration of the training

  • Two years of study: The full time course includes theoretical training (30 credits per year) and clinical internships (30 credits per year) under the direction of internship supervisors who are approved by the Teaching Committee in endocrinology.
  • The first of these two years of internship can be carried out within the complementary Masters in internal medicine.
