Course contents :

| While including a constant reference to theoretical tenets, the course introduces students to different kinds of translation, different kinds of texts and various areas of knowledge. |

| Comfort translating responses, including the frequent need to rephrase the original. |

| A good knowledge of English and an excellent knowledge of French. |

| A large part of the course consists of exercises. |

Assessment methods and criteria :

| Students active involvement in the course is a plus ; apart from regular evaluations the final examination consists of a written test followed by an interview which gives students to modify their translation or account for their choices. |

| Professional translators will be invited as guest speakers.
We also offer extra sessions on some Saturday afternoons.
In early May (2-4 May 2013) we organize a conference on translating realia and hope students will feel interested and get involved. |
