Course contents :  
While including a constant reference to theoretical tenets, the course introduces students to different kinds of translation, different kinds of texts and various areas of knowledge.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Comfort translating responses, including the frequent need to rephrase the original.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
A good knowledge of English and an excellent knowledge of French.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
A large part of the course consists of exercises.
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Four hours a week during the second term.

Assessment methods and criteria :  
Students active involvement in the course is a plus ; apart from regular evaluations the final examination consists of a written test followed by an interview which gives students to modify their translation or account for their choices.

Professional translators will be invited as guest speakers. We also offer extra sessions on some Saturday afternoons. In early May (2-4 May 2013) we organize a conference on translating realia and hope students will feel interested and get involved.
