Course contents :  
The course mainly consists in translation exercises that students will prepare at home, and which will then be corrected and discussed in class. The exercises will be based on texts from different sources (specialized journals, general and academic texts) and dealing with various topics relating to the students' chosen curriculum. This course does not involve a systematic revision of grammar.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
Help students to understand and comment upon any academic text in English. The focus will be on the most complex structures of written language, as well as the lexical difficulties and elements of discourse that make the correct interpretation of an elaborate text difficult.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Good knowledge of English.

Grammar book:
S. Berland-Delépine, La grammaire anglaise de l'étudiant, nouvelle édition 2000, Ophrys.
Dictionary:
Robert & Collins Senior, anglais-français, français-anglais, 2006
Assessment methods and criteria :  
Written exam consisting in the translation from English into French of a text that has not been studied in class as well as excerpts from texts translated in class. Students will be allowed to use a dictionary.
