Course contents :  
The course aims to teach the basic concepts of qualitative research in social sciences. A particular attention will be given to the specificity of the scientific approach and to the characteristics of qualitative methods. The key stages of qualitative research will be described and analysed (sampling strategies, data collection and analysis methods), as well as the principles of a critical approach towards information sources.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
At the end of the course the students should be able to define the main concepts, terms and methods of qualitative research, and should be familiar with them. The students should be able to identify and to critically assess the relevance of the methods, in a given situation.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
None.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
In addition to the theoretical course, the students will be asked (in small groups) to practice qualitative methods.
