Course contents :

| This course constitutes a general introduction to sociology, its main authors and paradigms. Students will be introduced to this discipline by focusing on three concepts: roles, power and communication through a three-levels'analysis (interpersonal, groups and society).
To familiarize students with actors, institutions and stakes of development policies and programs, currently deployed inside the so-called 'international development complex'. To analyse the different themes and objectives supported by these actors and institutions since the end of the Second World War and the colonial era. |
 |
Learning outcomes of the course :
 |
| The student will be able to understand and analyse the international cooperation's field and to develop a critical glance on its actors (from international institutions to grassroots organisations, NGO, etc.) and its past and current stakes (from the colonial area to nowadays)
By an individual and a group work, the student will be capable of developing a rigorous analysis on the actors and the stakes of the Aid Industry.
The student will be able to present orally his/her analysis before his/her colleagues. |
