Course contents :  
Contents are :
1. Visual perception and its mechanisms.
2. Efficacy of media : what the research says.
3. Choice of media according training needs.
4. Encoding and decoding pictures.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The objective is two-folded :
Specific : Master concepts related to learning and audio-visual media and use them to solve real problems.
Transversal : Analyse articles in scientific journals and research reports on the educational impact of audiovisual messages.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
Lectures and exercises dealing with (1) the analysis of pictures (illustrated texts, posters) and of videos, (2) the conception of methods to measure their educational impact, (3) the improvement of their educational quality and (4) the analysis of reports on this topic. .
Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
Course mainly presential (8 classes lasting each 3 hours).

That will be reproduced by Les Editions de l'Université de Liège, provided each student orders one copy via D. Leclercq.
Assessment methods and criteria :  
The final note will sum -for 25% with a closed books written exam --for 75% the open books written exam
