Course contents :  
Introduction to oceanography and coastal management : theoretical and practical aspects
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The main objective of the course is to explain what is oceanography to the students interested in the Master's degree in Oceanography of the University of Liège. Following points are developed by scientific experts :
  • multidisciplinary approach of the oceanography (physics, chemistry, biology, geography, ...),
  • contact with the field,
  • role of the scientists in the protection and the management of the coastal zones,
  • diversity of marine mammals,
  • emergent problematics : waste, toxic phytoplankton, jellyfishes, ...
  • marine ecotoxicology,
  • fish communication.
