Course contents :
 |
| The literature of the XIXth and XXth centuries will be presented through its main movements and schools, as well as through its main authors. It will be brought reported to what saw it being born : a society, a history, an institution. A thorough and methodical analysis will be reserved for the period which goes from 1800 till 1960. In accompaniment of the course, the students will have to read a list of striking works of the two centuries, about which they will be questioned. |

Learning outcomes of the course :

| At the end of the course, the student will be able :
- to identify, describe and place chronologically the authors and literary movements of the studied two centuries;
- to apply these knowledge to the reading of the prescribed texts;
- to explain in its main lines the literary change and to register it in the general history;
- to master the abstract contents of a certain number of literary notions.

- A list of 10 literary works will be also supplied in the beginning of course, works about which the students will be questioned.
