Course contents :  
The course will assume a relatively hybrid form, combining elements of cultural and literary history (of the 'Modernist' period in Great Britain and beyond) with an opportunity to discuss a selection of related texts, both creative and essayistic. Among other samples, Malcolm Lowry's Under the Volcano will be read in full and in detail.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
The students will gain understanding and knowledge of the 'golden age' of experimental literature known, in Anglo-Saxon culture, as 'Modernism'.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
The course is entirely taught and assessed in English.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods :  
A combination of ex-cathedra and heuristic seminars.
