Course contents :  
After a brief introduction to the cultural history of South Africa, three novels of the post-Apartheid era, written by white authors, will be examined in detail. The object will be to ponder the nature of the identity crisis (the historical hangover) thematized by the authors in question.

Learning outcomes of the course :  
Familiarize the students with the latest developments in South Africa's cultural history; enhance their capacity for textual analysis and interpretation.

The course is taught in English.

Heuristic seminars.

The students will be requested to write a personal essay, on a related topic of their choice, followed by an oral debriefing with the teacher.
