Course contents :  
After an introduction presenting the different approaches to the study of Greek and Latin literature and the chronological and historical frames, the lessons follow the chronological order. The characters of each period are described and the most important works in prose and poetry are studied. Translated excerpts are commented. For the Greek part, personal reading of translated Greek texts is being required. For the Latin part, notions of prosody and metric complete the course.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
A general survey of the most important authors of ancient literature and their works from the beginnings down to the fall of the Roman western Empire.

Suzanne Saïd - Monique Trédé - Alain Le Boulluec, Histoire de la littérature grecque, Paris, PUF, coll. « Quadrige », 2004. 2) For the personal reading, the translated Greek texts will be presented in an anthology to be purchased.
For the Latin part : H. Zehnacker - J-CL. Fredouille, Littérature latine, Paris, PUF, 1993 (Collection " Premier cycle ").
