Course contents :  
Based on the study of texts of general interest, this course allows a revision of the main grammar points and aims at improving the student's command of Dutch in speaking and writing.
Learning outcomes of the course :  
  • Improving the four skills, namely listening and reading comprehension, speaking and writing.
  • At the end of the semester, students should have reached a good mastery of everyday Dutch. They should be able to understand and present an authentic newspaper article.
Prerequisites and co-requisites/ Recommended optional programme components :  
A basic knowledge of the oral and written language is required. This course is not intended for beginners, as it is the logical continuation of secondary school.

Mode of delivery (face-to-face ; distance-learning) :  
This 30-hour course is taught 2 hours a week for one semester
Students are required to prepare the exercises, vocabulary and texts from the syllabus and the coursebook every week.

Listening comprehension (4/20) Taalnet1
Written examination (7/20) mainly based on the grammar and vocabulary studied in class as well as on reading comprehension and writing skills.
Oral examination (7/20) based on the topics discussed in class. Moreover, each student must present an article of his choice (min. 1 page)
